I was pretty into the early-aughts retro-rock thing back in the day, but this is one of the bands I never heard of until recently.

The Exploding Hearts were a new wave influenced power-pop band from Portland, Oregon. They released one record in 2003, called ‘Guitar Romantic’, But on July 20th, 2003 while returning from a show at Bottom of The Hill in San Fransisco, where they had actually been offered a record deal with Lookout! Records (former home to The Donnas and Greenday), their car flipped and 3 out of 4 members of the band died.
