Flock of Dimes

Saw Flock of Dimes on headunderwater’s sign-off post (miss you, bb). But on a positive note, this song is addictive.

Flock of Dimes Glaze + Icy mp3s

Jenn Wasner’s (of Wye Oak) project, Flock of Dimes just dropped a couple new jams, just for fun…and of course they are just incredible. She is my hero. I’ve described Jenn in conversations and in posts, as a female version of Kurt Cobain. With her commanding stage presence, ability to channel the 90s crunchy guitar fuzz that characterized garage rock, coupled with her ability to build songs using layered reverb, and neck hair tingling lyrics and vocals, it’s a sound I can’t get enough of.

Like Cobain, everything Jenn does is so original, and yet accessible. And by accessible I mean everyone, in some way, can relate to her music. She just has this effect on you. I admire what Jenn Wasner is doing so much, and not just because she is a woman, but I have to admit, the fact that she is a woman doing amazing things in music, makes it that much cooler.
